PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENTS

For Advanced Placement Studio Art you must produce Art. This Art ends up as a portfolio that is sent to the college Exam committees. They evaluate your portfolio to qualify you for college credit.

You have two choices for your portfolio production. A "General Portfolio" is one of your choices. A "Drawing Portfolio" is your other choice.

The requirements for these portfolios are as follows:

GENERAL

SECTION I

REAL ART (not slides)

4 PIECES OF ART that are no larger than 18X24 and no smaller than 8X8. No 3-D works. (only flat art)

SECTION II

CONCENTRATION AREA - IN DEPTH STUDY

No more than 20 slides

SECTION III

BREADTH

Total of 20 slides. 8 of these must be in the area of Color and Design. 4 of these must be in the area of Sculpture. 8 of these must be in the area of Drawing.

DRAWING

SECTION I

REAL ART (not slides)

6 PIECES OF ART that are no larger than 18X24 and no smaller than 8X8.

SECTION II

CONCENTRATION AREA - IN DEPTH STUDY

No more than 20 slides (note: this appears the same as the General Portfolio. However, this concentration can only be drawing.)

SECTION III

BREADTH

A minimum of 14 slides. These must be in the area of Drawing.

The General Portfolio requires about 44 pieces of art and the Drawing portfolio requires about 40 pieces of Art.

This is about 3 pieces every 2 weeks or 12 pieces by the end of October.

I will grade my students on quantity (do 12 pieces exist by the end of the first grading period? If yes, the grade will be an "A".)

I advise each student to start with drawing since all portfolios need drawing.
