Super Bear Brothers is a graphics modification for the NES game Super Mario Brothers. All of the character graphics have been changed to various kinds of animals, with the main characters, of course, being a couple of fuzzy bears! These bears don't just sit in the woods all day, though... their mother's just come up missing, so they've headed off into the world beyond their forest to save their momma! Help Fuzzy (and Mossy, if two care to play) find Momma Bear and bring her back home!
This version of Super Bear Brothers is nothing more than a graphics hack... the levels and music are the same as in regular Super Mario Brothers. In addition to the characters having been changed, some other items are different as well -- I'll leave it to you to find out for yourself what they are!
I plan to make another SBB hack involving level edits as well as the graphics changes already in place, but that may be a few months down the road.
Please note that the files offered below (in .ZIP archives) are .IPS Patch Files, not ROMs (it is illegal to distribute ROM files, but not patch files). You will need to procure a working Super Mario Brothers ROM and apply one of these patches to it using a patching tool like SNESTL12. You can get patching tools from Zophar's Domain and other fine emulation and ROM Hacking sites.
Also, you should be aware that there are two versions of the Super Mario Brothers ROM, one with a title image and one without. The one with the title image has a big "SUPER MARIO BROS." when you start it up... the other just has clear sky above the game type selection. The .ZIP file contains patches for both! Please be sure you back up your original SMB ROM before patching, as if you use the wrong patch it will cause strange things to happen to your game. :)
