From: Brian Voth Date: Thu, Jan 11 2001 11:35:07 PM -0800 Hey, I got your tape "Death t0-411" in the mail a while back and finally got around to giving it a listen. Not bad. You definitely have your moments. You've made the most of what you've got and I respect that a lot. My favorites tracks are "Time The Killer", and the nifty "Sweet Leaf" cover. Your rhythm guitar work is solid. It's the heart of good metal. Your soloing needs practice, but don't give up. If you've got the drive, you'll get to where you want to be. I'm not a fan of Death vocals, so I can't critique those well, but you've got a variety of voices in your music, which is somewhat unique. You're trying different things and that's good. Something went wrong in the recording process though I'm not sure where. Some of the music, especially the drums, got up over the cut line and ended up distorted. And that's the kind of distortion you don't want. If it happened when you were dubbing the tape, that's understandable. Tape players are notorious for bad quality. But if it happened on your mutli-tracker (or whatever you're using), ouch. If so it's probably time to invest in better equipment. I'm in a constant battle with sound quality myself. I know how much of a pain in the ass it is. I can't remember if I sent a CD out to you or not. I apologize if I haven't. Things have been slipping through the cracks lately. If you don't have a Fireaxe CD and want one, send me your address and I'll have one sent out immediately.
