Into Obscurity Webzine http://www.into-obscurity.com/index2.asp Genre: Techno Metal Similar bands: n/a Review: Everything about Deathfrost is eerie and strange. First of all, who puts out a double CD as a demo? Seriously, this thing is like two hours worth of music (which honestly, I didn't make it all the way through, although I did listen to a good amount of it). On top of that, although the one-man act claims to play black metal, it would hardly fit with bands of that genre. It's almost like a recluse version of Aphex Twin or other techno outfit. The drumming and bass is done with a drum machine and keyboards respectively. It doesn't sound nearly human, but instead comes off weak. The guitar is record so low, and although there are somewhat interesting riffs here and there, for the most part, it's pretty boring. The vocals are whacky, circus singing, sometimes screamed affairs. Finally, the production (which I'm sure was done in-house) is pitiful. Everything is weak as hell. The double CD demo is more of a project of a demented mind than of a band truly trying to inspire people. From this point on, the man behind the curtain of Deathfrost may want to just make music for his own enjoyment. Grade: 10/100
