Subject: [evol-psych] Re: The Trouble With Self-Esteem Date: Mon, 18 Feb 2002 20:52:07 -0400 From: Hector Pauchard HafemannTo: "[email protected]" I think that the real trouble with self-esteem is one of conceptualituation. In fact nobody knows what concept of self-esteem is using Ian, nor that of Phil. We must remember that self-esteem is not properly a concept, but a conceptual aggregation because it contains many different concepts. That is what Wyllie showed alredy in 1974. Perhaps this discussion is only a byproduct of the different concepts that both of them are using. I believe that if they more accurately present their own conceptualization of self-esteem we all may be able to undestand better the problem. Furthermore, this should also help to clarify the consecuences of hight self-esteem. The conclusion about the problem of self-esteem which are in a paper that I wrote may help in solving this controversy (I can supply a copy at your request). Regards.
