Fight The Future

Repeater75's X-Files Page

As an avid fan of the X-Files, I feel the need to feed my hunger for more quality storytelling and intense charachterization in the style that set the standard by which all other entertainment is judged. To put it short, Chris Carter Saved Television. I was seriously debating whether or not to even keep my 27 inch TV, much less start watching any programs on a regular basis. Then, I found THE SHOW! And now, like the rest of you, I bide my time between episodes (and now movies) wondering what will happen next to the most interesting ensemble cast of charachters to hit the small and big screens.

One of the ways I manage to make it through the between season time is through the exploration of the many offerings of FanFiction on the internet. And speaking of the between season wait, see The Mulder and Scully Angst-O-Rama for a realtime counter that displays the number of days, minutes and hours til the start of season six!

Well, let's face it, opinions differ on Fight the Future and I for one am of the LOVED IT camp. However, being a resident of Dallas, I was very curious as to how it was made to appear that semi-arid desert climes existed within view of Downtown Dallas. Well, it turns out that the official movie magazine cites the necessity to schedule filming in as little time as possible, so shooting for those scenes took place in Southern California's Inland Empire and the Downtown Dallas skyline was superimposed. Okay. What about that fanfic, anyway?

Well, I have to say that there's one site I can recommend above all others for links to all things X-Files and that is the Eclectic X-Philes page which actually rates the overall quality of each site - and there are a lot of sites listed!

As far as quality fanfic goes, my personal favorite has to be Dawson Rambo. I'm really impressed with his work because of his attention to detail that is sometimes absent from otherwise excellent work. Dawson is very up to speed on military jargon and life, and he certainly has me convinced that he knows the inside angle on the FBI, NSA, CIA and the NYPD. Just read his thriller ELS if you want to get knee deep into my personal favorite fanfic novel on the entire web. ELS features an intensely realistic crime story in the X-Files universe which starts a Mulder/Scully romance at a slow burn and builds to a raging fire of passion while keeping as true to Chris Carter's charachterizations as I've ever seen. This one is not to be missed. I've also enjoyed Dawson's First full-length, UMBRA and it's currently-in-progress followup called ELLIPSIS. Click NOW, do not wait to go to Dawson's site. It should be the only reason you need to justify paying your ISP bill every month.

There are numerous other fanfic authors out there, as you probably already know. The way I sort through the thousands of offerings and decide on what looks like a read that's worth my time is by starting at a great site called The Hub which features detailed reviews by genre of many not-to-be-missed works by top-notch X-Philes. Be sure to check this one out.

Another fanfic site that really captured my attention as an all-around Xcellent X-Files site for reasons too numerous to be listed here is the aforementioned Mulder and Scully Angst-O-Rama. You won't be disappointed by this one! This webmaster updates her site very frequently for quality and content. The fanfic University is pretty unique and fun as well.
