My Philosophies on Photography...
Please read (or at least skim) the following lines before you visit my photo gallery.
I grew up in a family of would-be musicians, singers, writers, and poets (you know who you are).
Unfortunately, these would-be artists had to feed themselves, and their families -- so they became
engineers, civil servants, physicians, etc. But there are still times when I know they long to express
themselves artistically.
The resulting onslaught of music, and singing is enough to repel their mates, and children until the
urge has past.
My father himself is a talented artist, but like the others, he had to grow-up and use his artistic talents
to take care of his family. But now and then, I see the creative spark in his eye -- and I know he hasn't
foresaken his art.
Although, I am in the medical profession by trade, I enjoy the arts as well. For though we may become
lawyers, bankers, or doctors to LIVE -- the arts are what we LIVE FOR.
Photography provides a pleasing mix of arts and sciences. The art lies in the composition, and lighting
of your images; the science in the workings of the camera, the processing chemicals, and the mechanics
of the darkroom. Black and white photography seems to be my ideal creative outlet.
There are many forms of black and white photography: portraiture, candid portraiture, street
photography, landscapes, and nudes. I've tried them all, however briefly. Eventually, I decided that
nudes were the most challenging, and (of course) the most fun. I'm sorry if the human form offends
anyone, but you'll find my work a far cry from pornography, exploitation, or any of that other evil
stuff, no doubt spawn by Lucifer himself (NOTE: tongue firmly planted in cheek).
Feel free to e-mail me HERE. if you would like to disagree with my philosophy, critique my work, or
make any sort of comment. But remember, I can dish it out as well as I can take it.
All images photographed, and developed by me, DC.
