Chainmail Keychain

Things needed

pliers
39 links
small key ring (can be purchased at hardware store)

Step1

Start with one closed link, on that link put 2 open like so you get something that looks like the below picture.

Step 2

On the next row take a open link and close it in the 1st link of the second row. Then take another open link and close it through the 1st and 2nd link in the 2nd row.Take the last open ring and close it through the 2nd link in the 2nd row . Now you should have a larger triangle with 3 rows in the 1st row 1 link in the 2nd row 2 links and in the 3rd row 3 links.

Step 3

Continue this until you get to the 6th row were you have 6 links.

Step 4

It is now time to reduce the triangle to make it a daimond shape. In the 6th row you have 6 links in the 7th row you will have 5 links. This is accomplished by leaving the first link out. in Row 7 don't put a link only through the 1st link in the 6th row leave that out and put a link throught the 1st and 2nd like in the picture below.

Step 5

Do this until you get to there is only one link on the bottom and it looks like the picture below.

Step 6

This is easy put the key ring on one end of the diamond and it is done and it should look like the picture on the top of this page.
