Premier of Romeo and Julia is 22 September,
Musichall is organizing special arrangements for that evening where you get to mingle with the elite of Flemish theatre, and of course the cast. A tidy 190 euro's will get you in (evening wear required), but I expecct that to be fully booked by now.

Personally I have not yet set a date for going. Veerle advises people to come while the show is still in Antwerp, as they have a cool moving stage, whereas Gent does not.

News 28/07/02

Musichall has released lots of press info and a complete cast list for Romeo & Juliet.
But more interestingly, the first single of the soundtrack to the musical has been released! Its called "liefde -wat kan ze mooi zijn"  (Love, how beautiful it can be).
Of course I would never put it up for  as that would be illegal ;)

This single is accompanied by a videoclip, but getting my hands on that is gonna be harder. Meanwhile you can view 30 seconds of it here. (Quicktime required)

but also the 'Gazet Van Antwerpen' (local newspaper)
and other strong rumors
I think we can hereby confirm that

Veerle is playing the 
the part of Juliet
in Musichall's upcoming Flemish production
of Gérard Louvin's musical adaptation of William Shakespeare's
“ROMEO & JULIA
– van Haat tot Liefde”
("Romeo & Juliet - From hate to Love")

I managed to go to A Little Night Music.
Didn't try to meet Veerle, got myself a brocure though.
Veerle was excellent, much bigger role than Jemima (I never saw Carousel).
Her singing was the best I have heard from her, and her acting was of course new to me (Oke, there is acting in Cats, but its different), I was quite impressed.
It occurred to me that this is the 4th similar character she has played in succession, the young, innocent one with that touch of wisdom, hmmm...
The brochure contains a short biography. To my surprise it says that Veerle played 2 seasons of  The Sound of Music after she did Cats Antwerp.
Johan, if you read this, could you shed some light on this? Many sources say that she played in Cats Antwerp after SoM.

The influx of Dutch visitors to the site on the 25th prompts me to make this little update.
Welcome everyone, as you can see, this site isn't updated very often, there is not exactly much to update it with! 
Anyone in the Netherlands interested in seeing Veerle live, has a rather good opportunity to do just that, as "A Little Night Music" is in the middle of its Benelux tour.

I know Koenraad is going today, and with my interest in Veerle temporarily re-ignited, I will phone and see if the 'Koninklijke Schouwburg Den Haag' has a few seats left tonight. I'll tell you all how that went afterwards (if I can go). Oh for those of you wondering why all the attention suddenly, Cats was shown on Dutch TV on Christmas evening.

Veerle is returning to Cats for the next few months.
She will be playing 'Jemima' as before, and thereafter return to 
Belgium for rehearsals for  "A Little Night Music"
