You Go On
You’re gone from my grasp,
But here in my heart.
I still hold your memory,
Still all in one part.
You move on to bigger things,
And I linger behind in the past.
Dreaming of you and what could have been,
Always wishing it could last.
My heart wasn’t strong,
And it let you slip away.
I wish it different each night,
And I wade through reality each day.
You’ve slipped from me,
I can no longer reach.
But here in my heart,
There’s sunset on the beach.
My heart is one piece still,
But it feels like ten.
Shattered and shredded,
It can still remember when.
But I love you deep down,
So I had to let you go.
Now I watch the days pass,
So silent and so slow.
My heart still holds you,
As if you were here.
But in my eyes is the truth,
A single warm tear.
