Quilt in a Day | |||||||||||||||||
My first QID was a Log Cabin. | I
selected various shades of brown and beige, contrasting with shades of
grey to create an earth-toned, masculine color scheme. My log cabin has
the traditional solid center square representing the hearth of the home
and I used black. The quilt blocks are arranged in an arrow pattern.
This quilt is king size, cotton
fabrics with a polyester batting. Machine pieced with hand and machine
quilting.

The
Dresdan Plate has its origins in a stylized chrysanthemum flower design
brought from China to Europe and popularized in fine ceramic dishware.
Fabrics with oriental motifs, fans, shells, and water waves, and the colors, tea rose, forest green, and black, give this 46" square wallhanging a unique flavor. It is machine pieced and appliqued,
with hand quilting along the seams. Cotton fabrics and polyester batting.

Trip Around the World. | Country
green, rose, and brown with floral and animal prints were selected to coordinate
with the Early American decor of this quilt's future home.
This photo was taken in the home
of the quiltmaker with the approval of Spat and Poly.
