PETER ROYEN ('23) is a dutch painter who stayed in Germany after his studies. His way of working fitted very well in the intentions (context) of gallery .31 and its tradition: searching for and exhibiting the species of informal working artists. The reason for his living in Germany is unknown, but in those days more artists were doing the same, (ARMANDO, HERMAN DE VRIES) may be there was something to be found in post-war Germany that feeded their minds. This work by PETER has a touch of darkness and is, at the same time, mysterious. There is a lot to guess, something unknown, and yet it is there! format 120 x 100 cm. Scratchtechnic, black/grey/white., Year 1960. |
