Dear supporter of the Nike campaign:
Here is our new Nike action packet. We hope that you find it useful. We do our best to provide you with the most up-to-date information on the Nike campaign.
Please note that on Saturday, October 18 there will be an INTERNATIONAL MOBILIZATION in support of Nike production workers. We hope that you will be able to organize a leafleting event for that date at a store selling Nike products in your community. We also encourage you to organize leafleting at other times between now and October 14. This is one of the most effective ways to put pressure on Nike.
Please notify us at 541-344-5410 or
[email protected] when planning a leafleting event. After leafleting, please send a brief report: organization(s) involved, number of participants, reaction of the public, media coverage, anything that made the event unusual or exciting. You will find the following materials in this packet:
update
letter to Nike CEO Phil Knight
sample press release
answers to frequently asked questions
further resources
suggestions for organizers of leafleting events
We have a leaflet master available. If you would like to receive it, send your postal address to
[email protected] and specify that you already have received the email version of the action packet and wish to receive only the leaflet master in hard copy. Many of you have expressed an interest in receiving ongoing updates on the Nike campaign. In the resources section of this packet, you will find a number of ways to stay in touch. We hope that you will consider subscribing to the Campaign for Labor Rights newsletter. It provides in-depth information on all of the campaigns which we promote. Those with access to email also can receive our free email labor alerts.
Many of the materials in the resources section are provided by volunteers with busy schedules. Please be understanding if you experience a delay of a few weeks before receiving items you have requested.
If we are contacted by other people in your community, we will try to help you to link up with them. Dont hesitate to contact us if we can be of further assistance.
In solidarity,
Trim Bissell, Coordinator
Campaign for Labor Rights
