The fall of Antonius.

In 32 the civil war was finally declared.

Antonius had divorced Octavia, and now he lived with Pharaoh Cleopatra in Egypt.

Octavian’s army was bigger and better than Antonius’ but Antonius’ had the Egyptian navy.

The battle was not one of the most exiting in history.

The Egyptian navy trapped themselves in the harbor of Actium, and Octavian’s army crushed Antonius’ as easily as

expected.

Octavian chased Antonius and Cleopatra, but they committed suicide before they were caught.

Octavian ended the war by killing Cleopatra’s children.

Now Egypt was in Octavian’s personal possesion.

This was the ultimate end of the Roman republic.

Octavian was 32 years old and owned most of the known world.

He now had the rest of his life to enjoy it.
