Enhedslisten was formed in December 1989 as a collaboration between "The Left Socialists", "The Socialistic Workers Party", and "The Danish Communistic Party".
Our real name is Enhedslisten The Red/Green. Red because we're socialists, and green because we are very conserned about the environment.
At the election in 1990 we had 1,7% of the votes which was fairly impressive, when you have in mind that we had existed for less than a year. Unfortunately to get into the Danish Parliament you need at least 2% of the votes, so we didn't get in.
However at the election in 1994 we had 3,1% and got 6 of the 179 mandates in the Parliament.
At the election in 1998 we only had 2,7% and lost one mandate.
As small as these numbers may seem, keeping in mind that the Government with Enhedslisten and another party called The Socialistic People's Party has a one mandate majority we meen pretty much.
Among other things we have helped the Government with the state-budget, and while I write this we have secured the majority for a major economic reform. So we are actually pretty important as long as we stay in parliament ( we are dropping in the opinion polls ).
You can if you wish visit Enhedslisten homepage at www.enhedslisten.dk , but I'm afraid that everything there is written in Danish.
