Marius, and Sulla.

The Senate still wouldn’t give citizenship to the Italian allies, and in 91 a rebellion broke out.

After some early losses Sulla was asked to raise an army. He did and by 87 the rebellion was crushed.

The Senate thanked Sulla by giving him the command of the Roman army in the war against Mithridates, an eastern king.

Marius meant, that he should have been given the command of the Roman forces, and he was able, to get the Senate to

change its orders.

Sulla marched on Rome, had the senate outlaw Marius and went to fight Mithridates.

Now Marius Marched on Rome with his army and occupied the city.

Now Rome was a mess.

Marius and his army systematicly killed all Marius enemies. Unfortunately they didn’t know when to stop, but just killed

everyone they saw.

Then Marius died a few weeks after he occupied, and his ally Cinna made an end to the bloodbath.

Cinna now was in charge of Rome, but Sulla still had s great army in the east.

Sulla's dictature.
