TITLE OF PIECE: The Hunt for Maple Cream

EDITION: One of a kind

ARTIST: Jeanne K. J. Weiland

DIMENSIONS: Lady 15 inches, seated

Base 12 x 18 inches

MATERIALS: Mixed media. head, arms and legs are polymer clay. The body is leather stuffed with mohair, and has a wire armature for posing. Hair is rooted lamb's wool. The table is constructed of aspen. Chair legs are carved cherry wood, and the upholstery is white damask. The valentine box is filled with Fimo candy. Our very proper lady is attired as any lady should be, complete with nylons, leather shoes, and underclothing (including a girdle with garter tabs...if you're under 30, please ask your mother or grandmother to explain). All accessories pictured come with the doll.

ARTIST NOTES: Now that I'm "grown up", I can do what I want to do and be what I want to be. And I still find myself "wondering what I'll be when I grow up." (The less diplomatic members of the family mostly wonder IF I'll grow up!) All my life I have been, I am told, a terrible "goody-two-shoes". Well, I intend to break out of that pattern! As I have often told my children, I didn't wait all that time to get to be a grownup just so I could act like one. Among other secret dreams, I've always wanted to dig right through the candy box and finish only the "good" chocolates. Lacking the nerve to actually be that naughty myself, I've enlisted the aid of this proper little lady. I guess the family's right after all...I'm still a closet goody-two-shoes!
