Rik Emmett

Rik Emmett has been a Primary force in Canadian music ever since the mid 70's. Rik was part of the band "Triumph" in the mid 70's to early 80's and they were very successful. They combined powerful driving guitar and soaring lead by Emmett with beautiful classical originals by Emmett. He sang and played, Lap slide, Bottle Neck Slide, 12 - String, Classical, 6 String Acoustic, and 6 string electric.
He was definitely the band's star. I was fortunate enough to see him in a work shop situation which means that there are several question and answering sections in the show. It was an hour and a half show. He was fantastic He answered 2 of my questions. What I found amazing is that he never let himself become big headed to think that he didn't have to get better. He told a story of being on a bus on tour trying to work his way through a guitar book in order to get better. This was while he was enjoying great success. He has just put out 3 albums: "Raw Quartet" (Blues Rock) , "Ten invitations from Mr. E" (classical), and a Jazz album. He is a fantastic player and "Raw Quartet" comes highly recommended! I managed to snag his setlist from the show
