Bruce Springsteen

The Boss Is Back

-Dallas Morning News

Bruce Springsteen is an extremely talented songwriter, guitar player, and performer. He put out his first album in 1972 and second in 1973. Neither album received much success. His 3rd album was a breakthrough. It was called "Born to Run". It contained the hit singles "Born to Run" and "Thunder Road." It also contained the great show piece "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out". In 1984 his 7th album "Born In The USA" became the most successful solo album in history. His 1984 tour along with his "Darkness on The edge of town" tour have been hailed as some of the best rock tours ever. In 1986 Bruce Springsteen put out Live 1975 - '85. This 40 song live collection box set became the best selling box set in history. Bruce Springsteen Fired his well known back up group of 17 years in 1989. He then with a new band in 1992 put out the two albums "Human Touch" and "Lucky Town". They weren't nearly as popular as his previous efforts. He then did a "Plugged" concert for MTV that got him a grammy nomination for his solo performance of "Thunder Road". In 1993 he recorded "Streets of Philadelphia" for the movie "Philadelphia". He won an academy award as well as scored a top ten hit. In 1995 he put out his Greatest hits along with an "underground hit" Murder Incorporated and 3 new songs recorded with the newly reunited E-Street band. It went to #1. Bruce didn't do much besides a folk album and tour between 1995 and 1998. He, in 1998 performed at the amnesty concert for human rights. In 1998 he released a box set of unreleased studio songs and it was universally commended by critics. In 1999 he was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. He then reunited the E-Street band (For real this time!) and went on an American tour and then a World tour. This was one of his best ever. He is currently on an American tour that ends with a record breaking 12 sold out shows at Madison Square garden.

I would recommend for the interested music buyer "Greatest Hits" as it was meant to give people an overview of what Springteen had done throughout his musical career. It is not really a "Greatest Hits".
