sits overflowing
green foul smelling always near
a rusting dumpster

uneven and underfoot
a grey expanse full of cracks
everywhere concrete

stands silent blackened empty
useless to a vital city
abandoned building

moving shifting wild
alive as any distant jungle
the stream of traffic

sold to the hopeless
a vial of pure happiness
a vial of slow death

zombies haunt the city
wandering and avoided
born from shattered minds

a scream from the dark
gunshots alarms predators
somewhere in the city

museums to visit
parks full of happy children
redeeming the city

vital and alive
the cradle of new great things
penance for the city

duel identities
wild night respectable day
both need the other

I wax poetic
on our common surroundings
my urban haiku
