I am writing this letter on behalf on my 11 year old son. He has been deaf since birth but he is a very normal little boy in every other way. I tried to get a "Hearing Impaired" sign near my home so that people would be more careful driving down the street. The first time I called, which was when he was probably about 5 or 6 years old, they told me yes, they could put a sign. Then they call me back and told me they couldn't do it because I lived on a private street. I live in a trailer park, and the street is considered a private on. However, I know no one would object to the sign. In fact, I think most people would welcome it. Anyways, after several years of trying to find someone to help me, I am just going to give up. I can't see why I can't have a sign. It is totally ridiculous to me!! I recently wrote a letter to my local paper and even that has not made any difference. But, I guess if there's nothing I can do, then so be it. Sincerely, Pamela D. Freed pamdfr.txt
