December 17, 1998 Dear Members of Congress, My associates, friends, and I are all tired of this waste of taxpayer funds to advance this brand of sexual McCarthyism and try to impeach President Clinton against the wishes of over 51 percent of the Americans. We have had enough of this partisan circus already. It is time to move on and here is a few reasons why you, the congresspeople, should move on to regular business and away from this lame and useless attempt at a coup d'etat: First, it is clear that impeachment will never be sustained in the Senate. Second, President Clinton and the American public have been punished enough. The disability community will be punished even further if congress removes a president that has done so much to advance them. Third, the evidence produced before you is fifth hand hearsay and would never support a simple perjury conviction even in a court of law much less the constitutional requirements for impeachment. Finally, these efforts detract from the prestige of the United States and the Office of the President and keep your attention away from real issues affecting your constituents such as education, disability rights, social security, employment of people with disabilities, medical insurance, HMO problems, campaign finance reform, the impending 'Year 2000' bug crisis, and many more. Show your intelligence, your responsiveness to your constituents, your sense of fairness, and your legal acumen. END THIS PARTISAN MADNESS TODAY! The disability community is one of the largest and most underrepresented groups in the state as well in the nation. The disability community is also becoming one of the fastest growing disenfranchised group of discrimination victims in the United States. Sincerely, Richard Roehm Deaf Activist and Advocate
