The World I Know
The mirror in the goblet illustrates a placid lifestyle,
A life of simplicity.
Beneath the surface, the water swirls with intensity,
The placid mask hides the bullshit of everyday life.
The goblet's top is bejeweled with intricate carvings,
The wonders of modern society.
Carvings hold hidden meanings and designs,
Pawns in a never ending game of power.
Holding the bowl of the cup is thick rough pine,
Working men keep the hierarchal system alive.
Out of place, filling in the missing space,
Endless numbers, nameless faces.
Around the base of the cup is a trickle of water,
Destined for ruin is the basis of modern society.
The base barely wide enough to balance the bowl, a phenonemon,
Only time will tell if the water spills.
