The Raven
Edgar Allan Poe wrote"The Raven", the poem. This poem about a man who was sitting in his chair reading a book on a midnight in December. He was almost asleep when he heard a tap from the door. He went to open it, but no one was there. He thought of Lenore his love that had just died. He was afraid that Lenore would come back to find him. In the end, the thing that was knocking or the door wasn't Lenore. It was a raven who says, "Nevermore".
The literary devices that were used in this poem, "The Raven" were assonance, rhyme scheme and alliteration. An example of assonance is "… the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels named Lenore." An example of rhyme scheme is "… eagerly I wished the morrow - vainly I had sought to borrow from my books surcease of sorrow - sorrow." An example for alliteration is "… doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before." The are the examples for the three literary devices, assonance, rhyme scheme and alliteration that were used in this poem. And also for the point of view is the 1st person and the mood is spook and weird.
I think that poem; "The Raven" was very interesting. I underhand what this poet was saying in his poem. His poem is just a story. That's why I understand. This poem is also interesting by the poet making this poem scary. It keeps the attention of the readers. I hope I could read another poem from this poet again. I really find his works interesting, and I'd I like to read more of the works of Edgar Allan Poe.
