Eyre
Square, Galway city: Sean-Phádraic Ó Conaire
(1882-1928) and me. Sean-Phádraic was one of the most
significant Irish-language writers of the early period of
the Irish Language Revival. He was a bohemian, and
nomadic and poverty stricken for the latter part of his
life. Some of his best work was produced in London where
he was employed as a civil servant (of the British state)
before returning to Ireland at the outset of the First
World War. |
