Up-and-coming young Austin songwriter Rob Shane recorded one of my better known songs "Lights." His eponymous first CD is filled with his quietly brilliant tunes. I expect he's going to go somewhere. Watch
for him playing Austin.

Charles Lawrence, then of Madrid (Spain), recorded my song "It's Okay" and put it on his new CD "generation
d" released around Christmas time. He's another one to look out for. The rest of his CD is composed of his own great originals. He has two more CDs out now -- "Interstellar Suitcase" and "Daylight Hours". Go here for more info:

'The Guys Who Wrote 'Em' (Askill Publishing, ISBN: 0-9545750-1-6) by Sean
Egan is a 334-page exploration of the subject of the 'bespoke' songwriter in
pop and rock music. Egan - the author of acclaimed biographies of Jimi Hendrix
and The Animals - has interviewed some of the biggest names in songwriting
history for the project, including Leiber & Stoller, Mann & Weil, Greenwich &
Barry, Chip Taylor, Holland-Dozier-Holland, Tony Macaulay and Stock, Aitken
& Waterman. Their anecdotes feature the likes of Elvis Presley, Phil Spector,
Eric Clapton, The Shangri-Las, Diana Ross and Jimi Hendrix. As well as the
human interest angle, there is considerable technical information about the
craft of composition. The result is a recounting of the history of post-Elvis
popular music from an intriguing and delightful lateral angle.
