UK B'nei Noach & the Chabad Lubavitch - Working with Torah Observant Jews

If you have ever tried to set up a group or society you will know that the most important thing that anyone can offer you is support.

Over the past two years that we have been bringing together the B'nei Noach within the UK, we have been lucky enough to been helped by both the Chabad-Lubavitch in Brooklyn and the South Manchester Lubavitch.

Unlike the B'nei Noach World-wide who tend to be a single congregation located in one place, the UK B'nei Noach cover the whole of the UK and our membership although small, geographically extends from the Home Counties to the North of England.

Because of this, it is important that we stay in touch with each other and with also with both other B'nei Noach and Torah Observant Jews

So why is it so important to have contact with Jewish communities?

The Seven Laws of Noah are codified in the Talmud. The Talmud is often referred to as the Oral Law in text and although there are two types of Talmud, Babylonian and Jerusalem, it is the Babylonian one which is usually being referred to. For the Gentile with no experience of Judaism it is easiest to describe the Talmud as an ancient set of text which is made up of the sayings and thoughts of many of the greatest Jewish Rabbis. Points of law are debated, parables help with the things we face in life and there are also just some great philosophical ideas which it is worth contemplating.

If you are interested in learning more about the Talmud you could do worse than getting Cohen's Every Man's Talmud out of the library

Whilst we have our own set of laws to live to, we believe in the authority of the Tanach (Old Testament) and our association with Torah Observant Jews are linked to this. Why are they called Torah Observant? The Torah is the law given to Moses by G-d, and is found in the first 5 books of the Tanach. These 5 books are called the Pentuach. A Jew who observes the laws held in the Torah recognises the part that B'nei Noach have in G-d's world and also recognises B'nei Noach as a group who accept the same G-d as they do.

We do not believe in a trinity nor recognise that our Messiah has arrived to save us. But we do look to a Messiah to come in the future and this is what aligns us to Torah Observant Jews and removes us from Christians. If you would like to know more about how we differ from Christians then you should visit B'nei Noach & Christians page.

Of interest to anyone in the UK who wants to get out and learn about Judaism is The Jewish Museum, of course you can visit it, virtually!
