Starting conversations with anyone requires practise
and in some cases - assistance.
To gauge your success in communication it is often helpful to receive some feedback from the other partner in that conversation. In conversations with our self or with God or any deity of our choice, such feedback may be difficult to interpret.
As with anything in life - time and patience will only serve to make us better at this endeavour.
Effective communication requires some commitment if we are to gain anything from the experience. It is helpful to note that prayer can be undertaken for many reasons. As we mature in our view of God or a god, and come to recognize His plan for our life, prayer becomes more of a search for our self rather than a shopping list of wants and desires.
Reflections for Today's Youth are beginning points that will allow us to seek out both our self and God. As starting points, these reflections are only the beginning of the journey towards self-awareness and discovery. The prayers can be used privately or as a way of provoking thought and conversation in public forums.
