I Didn't Know Til Today

I didn't know til today,
How lonely a house could seem,
When every wall becomes gray
. As though I walked in a dream.

I didn't know til tonight,
How quiet a house can be,
Even though the lamp is bright,
The darkness still frightens me.

I didn't know til right now,
How little a smile can do.
They just aren't the same, somehow,
Unless they all come from you.

I didn't know til today,
How much I'd miss you, my dear,
And my strange sadness will stay,
Til you are once again here.
