My Favorite Recipe

Take one tired man
After a hard days work
With his shoes untied
And his paper on the porch.

Take two or three youngsters
Anxious to eat
Reluctant to wash
And full of chatter.

Take one busy wife
Add a colorful apron
Put a cook book near
For her flying glance.

Take coffee gaily perking
And a neighbors friendly wave
Add one worn out dog
Napping on the floor.

Take a comfortable house
Bursting at the seams
That has known these people
And their dreams.

Take a familiar table
Add some well used dishes
Chop-sticks on the piano
And one impatient nibbler.

Add a sunny day
And a cheerful smile
Blend a job well done
With a word of praise.

Mix this all well
With a dash of love
And the result will be
A happy meal.
