You cant judge a person by what he has or what hes done.
You have to judge a person by what he is!
A time, out of sheer instinct or momentary lack of doubt,
he may have preformed one great duty One single, temporary,
sublime act of better-than-human behavior.. One motion, one
lonely, unfamiliar showing of strength or wisdom.
A time, he may have fallen to evil depths, where out of
blind desperation, unreasoning panic he committed an act
of cowardice or shame.
No, you cant judge a person by what he has or what hes
done. His true personality lies in what he is!
For most of us can occasionally rise to undreamed of
heights and also sink to that black, hopeless pit of inhuman
deeds.
We must look between the two extremes, to the real
character and when we look carefully enough, we will find
something good in what a man is.
We can think:
I know you have accomplished these several noble efforts
and I am proud of your spirit I know you have committed
a terrible wrong, which I cannot forget but which I can forgive
for I done wrong, too and I know how it feels. I may
not understand you for I cannot even understand myself,
but I accept you I accept you as you are, without restrictions,
without pretense, without shrinking from you or looking down
on you, without the slightest attempt to please you by acting
as though you are my superior.
And I promise you this.. I promise to find something
in the person you are, that I like!
For who am I to sit in judgment of my fellow human beings?
How can anyone dare to measure the inner workings of his fellow
man?
Instead, we should raise our eyes to them calling:
Come, neighbor, join me and rest awhile.. Youll be safe
with me for we are of the same pride, the same humility,
the same good and the same bad.
If we would only be honest enough to admit it!
