After reading the previous bio's, I have discovered that we all have come to
KAL for similar reasons, as a wonderful home of poetry and expression and
release of feelings whether sad, happy or indifferent to the events
occurring in each of our lives, in real, virtual or of fantasy.
I am one of 5 children, not the oldest, nor the youngest, nor the
middle...not sure what syndrome I can be titled with. But all my life I have
loved and worked with young children, having been an Aunt since I was 12 to
now over 30 nieces, nephews and great ones from infancy to 38. I have a
degree in Early Childhood Education, taught kindergarten, and third grade (a
very creative age), owned my own nursery school, taught English As A Second
Language to Cambodian, Vietnamese, and Polish Solidarity families that had
immigrated to the US from war-torn countries. I worked with a family of 3
Korean sisters who were adopted locally, teaching them English and have seen
them grow and marry and have families of their own. I later substituted for
our school district in all areas, all grade levels.
I always had a fondness for words...just never realized the enjoyment of
poetry except for POE and until this day I still remember 'Annabel Lee', the
first poem I ever had to recite in school. Other than that I am embarrassed
to say I really never took the time to enjoy poetry until last year when
coming on line.
After my father's death, I began emailing myself with daily letters
releasing my pent up feelings. I later discovered a site that had a resident
poet and was asked to follow him to Lovingyou.com to vote on his beautiful
poem, which I did. His words were always striking and thus I began my
interest in reading his and the others on the site. I decided to turn all my
emails into poetry and that was the beginning ... Those who have followed my
words know that I have reached the half century mark this year, in age (wish
I could still claim the handle ~49 and holding) I live in a 1901 Victorian
home, just over the Maryland Line into Pennsylvania...been renovating
forever, have a pond and many gardens that I have cultivated and that I try
to maintain. Also have a craft business called Rainy Days 'N Mondays. I have
been rather lax since coming to KAL on those other hobbies but will soon get
back to them.
I must thank the biki, for bringing me here in January '99 and teaching me
"the ropes" (still learning) and Mimi for being so kind in welcoming me
here...with my very first poem written just days before knowing about this
site...called 'Kaleidoscopes'...
Do you believe in coincidence or fate?
