THE ILLUSTRATED PARS ROYAL FAMILY HISTORY
Who's who:
The succession war
After Godaruzesu II slept with his oldest son's wife, the latter (Osuroesu V) started to conspire with his younger brother (Andragoras III) to commit parricide. Together, they killed their father, the King of Pars. Now, by feodal law, the older brother (Osuroesu V) should get the throne, which he did. He thus became the next King of Pars, and adopted his brother (son of his father and his wife) as his own son (Hirumes). Osuroesu V falls ill with a fever, and on his deathbed asks his brother to kill their younger brother that he had raised like his own child (Hirumes). Andragoras, to fulfill his brother's dying wish, murders his older brother's wife and their 'son', by burning them alive in their castle. He is now next in line for the throne. Thus, Andragoras became King of Pars, and his adopted son, Prince Arslan, became the Crown Prince, heir to the Kingdom of Pars. BUT it turns out that his brother's 'son' / his younger brother (Hirumes) was saved from the flames and grew up in Maruyamu Kingdom (), and wants what he thinks is rightfully his, that is the throne of Pars. Through an alliance with the enemy kingdom of Lusitania () Hirumes will conquer Pars and its Capital city of Ekubatahna (), and seize both Andragoras and Tahamine. Andragoras will be kept prisoner by the Lusitanians. NOW if you consider that Hirumes is before all else Osuroesu's son, he should be on the throne right now, and not Andragoras, and thus Arslan should be second in line, as long as Hirumes remained childless. ALTHOUGH if you consider Hirumes as Godaruzesu's son, and thus Andragora's younger brother, he should then be second in line for the throne, after Prince Arslan, should he remain childless. But if we consider that birth is what gives the right to the throne, then Arslan should not even be considered, for he was not born to the Royal family and then Hirumes would be second in line for the throne, after his older brother Andragoras. FINALLY, the question that you should ask yourself is whether or not it is merit or birth order that should prevail. Hirumes, by capturing Andragoras and letting him die in jail, would, then, by any order chosen, be first in line to the throne. THE PROBLEM IS that the King of Lusitania (Inocentius VII) also wants the Pars throne, and is thinking of getting to it by marrying the soon-to-be widow of Andragoras (Tahamine). Therefore, if it was known to him that Hirumes, who works for him, was also a contender for the throne, he would kill him. So now Hirumes can't share his secret with anyone.
What now?In the end of the fourth OVA, Hirumes still holds Ekubatahna and most of Pars, while Arslan, with the help of Narcasse as strategist, holds the fortress of Peshwald, and is allied with the neighbouring country of Shindra. Inocentius VII still can't get Tahamine to accept marrying him.   |
