Chapter 22
Godiva

I wondered what Frederick and Alex were up to. I didn't think they would just sit and take this. They aren't the kind of guys to just lay around waiting for their destiny. The door to the elevator opened and the girl stepped out. I followed her as she walked down the hallway. There were huge double doors at the end. She strutted stiffly up to a hole in the wall by the door and knocked on the wall. A buzzer sounded and a voice followed.
"State your business." it said, in a nasal tone.
"I have the girl we apprehended earlier this week." she retorted rudely.
Earlier this week! How long had I been asleep, I wondered.
The buzzer sounded again and the girl took the opportunity to open the door. We stepped into a small room, where another girl was sitting behind a counter.
"Is this her?" asked the girl, and I recognized the nasal voice.
She looked me up and down, lowering her glasses like a teacher would. "Doesn't look very ferocious. Those rumours must have gotten way out of hand!" she chuckled nervously.
"Don't underestimate her." the first girl informed her, as she raised her hand to her neck and touched it softly.
 "Heheheh." I chuckled again.
"We got her fixed up good for Godiva." she said.
The girl behind the desk nodded in approval as she studied me again. "Godiva has been waiting for you." she said. "Please follow me." I followed her as she began walking through a door behind the counter. She looked back at the first girl. "You can leave now, Alicia, you're no longer needed."
The door led to another short hallway.
"You first" she said, motioning toward the door at the end of that hall.
I touched the door nob. It was freezing cold. I turned it swiftly and stepped inside. The room was immense. The floor was bright and shiny.  The suns were shining in through the huge skylight and reflecting off the tiles. I looked up and saw birds flying around in circles above the building. Their patterns were memorizing. I watched them fly round and round, and began to get dizzy. I redirected my stare to the beautiful fountain in the middle of the room. The water looked like crystal. The whole fountain was made of a gorgeous blue-green marble. It had three levels and the water trickled off the top and onto the second level, then trailed through little dips in the edge, finally falling in the last pool. It was huge, and looked deep. I figured it would at least go up to my waist.
"Ahem!" a voice boomed through the room.
I let out a little cry and stepped backwards. My eyes adjusted once again to the light and I saw a huge throne, just like in the fairy tales. There was a red carpet leading up to it, which I was standing on. There were jewels strewn around the room and on the golden throne, as though they'd been thrown there randomly. The really awing sight was her. She sat on the thrown, dressed in a tiny little white dress with a huge fur coat overtop of it. She was large and ugly. Her hair was curly and greasy. It stuck to her sweaty face and she tried to push it back with her chubby fingers.
"Fan harder!" she screamed at the two young guys that were fanning her on either side. They immediately began whipping the fans up and down faster than before.
"Now," she shifted uneasily in her chair and turned to face me, "Hey! What do you think you're doing? Bow before me!"
I just stood there, looking at her.
"You dare to disobey me? You'll get what's coming to you!" She glared at me and squinted her eyes. Then she turned to the girl that had brought me in. "But first off, Christina, I thought you said that all the other humans on this planet were captured, branded and put in the cellar! Yet what is this? A young girl. I don't suppose you went down and took her out of there?"
"No madam, she was out in the halls" said Christina.
"Could there be a leak in the dungeon? Go check! I don't want any germ infested creatures in my castle!" she squawked.
"Huh?" I asked, insulted and just a bit confused.
"Were there any more of them!" the fat girl asked frightened.
"Two boys and another girl, she got away."
 "And the boys?"
"We've got them in a storage closet for now."
 "Heavily guarded, right?"
"Oh yes, Godiva, we've got three girls there ‘round the clock."
"Three! Send ten more down immediately! We can't have them roaming the halls. Those filthy creatures."
Christina nodded and muttered something into the hole in the wall.
So this was Godiva, the name that had come up many times in the past. The girls treated her as their leader. It sickened me that they let such a poor excuse for a human make decisions for them. "Excuse me," I broke in. "What's so bad about guys?"
The two guys dropped their jaws and stopped fanning. Their eyes went back and forth between me and Godiva. They were full of fear and curiosity.
She glared at me.  Her eyes were narrow and beady. She began to sweat even more and her face flushed bright red. She took in a deep breath, and prepared to speak.
