Naturally a fall from such high heights would kill someone. Except it's
obvious I managed or I wouldn't be here to write this story. I'm sure you've
already figured it out by now. But I won't keep the rest of you guessing.
Let's just continue with the story.
Splash!
My heart was racing from the fear of hitting the ground and my
body was clenched tight, preparing for the collision. When I hit the cold
water, which I was not expecting, I felt a sudden shiver travel up my spine.
My body quickly reacted, opening up my arms and legs and pushing me to
the surface. I was gasping for air when my head emerged from the water
because I'd been holding my breath while we fell. I stood up, wiped the
water out of my eyes, and my hair from my face. I felt a hand grab my leg
and then Alex pulled himself up along side me. We had landed in the fountain.
I looked around for Frederick and saw him lying face down underneath the
water. I reached down and pulled up his head. His eyes were closed and
there was a bump on his temple.
"Oh dear!" I yelled. I put my ear above his chin to listen for
breathing. There wasn't any air coming out of his mouth, or going in. I
pulled back his head, opened his mouth and was about to listen again when
he took in a long breath and then coughed up some water. He began breathing
steadily but other than that he didn't give any signs of being conscious.
"C'mon Fred, talk to me. We can't make it this far and then have
you leave." I slapped his cheeks lightly and even gave his shoulder a little
pinch. He groaned, but that was it. "Fine! Have it your way!" I shouted
and shoved his head underwater again. When I pulled him back up his eyes
were open and he was sputtering. He locked eyes with me and wrapped his
arms around my neck.
"I can't take much more of this." he told me as he took in a
deep breath.
"You're one to talk, I've been through quite a bit myself." I
muttered. It was then that I remembered Godiva. I shifted my weight with
Frederick and turned around. She was sitting on her throne, clutching the
arm of one of the guys.
"Wh-wh-who are you? What are you doing here?" she asked.
Her eyes travelled from Alex, to Stephanie, to Frederick, and then
myself. "You!" she screamed at me. I jumped and Frederick grabbed my hand.
"Brittany!" Godiva shouted, with absolute terror in her voice. The
girl was already in the room, lured by the sound of us falling into the
fountain. She looked just as scared as the rest of us. "Brittany? How did
these savages get up there? Certainly they could not have escaped and managed
to get this far without someone knowing about it. Why didn't you notify
me?" Godiva was positively filled with rage and Brittany, who was already
at the back of the room, took another step back.
"We, we didn't want to worry you, ma'am."
"You imbiciles! Did you honestly think that you could solve the problem
yourselves? You know perfectly well that I'm the brains behind all of this!
How dare you!" She raised her arms, clenched her hands together, and stared
at Brittany. We all stood there watching with amazement and wonder as Brittany
closed her eyes, and collapsed on the floor.
"Alicia!" Godiva called. "Come in here, I need to talk to you."
Alicia entered and slowly made her way around Brittany. She walked
over to Godiva and they began conversing under their breaths. Alicia gasped
a few times, shook her head and even shouted "Dear Lord!" a twice. Finally,
she left the room, closing the door behind her.
"You pathetic little rebels." Godiva finally said. "I've tried
to reason with you and work this out like civilised people, but"
"Ha!" I scoffed, maybe a little too loudly. Godvia glared at
me and then continued.
"but, it seems that you have left me no choice, other than to
lock you all away for good. It is for the safety of all who dwell in my
castle. You will be sent to survive as you can in the darkest, deepest,
most secretive cell on this island. Never to be let free.
"Noooo!" screamed Stephanie, at the top of her lungs.
Just then the door burst open again and in fled dozens of girls,
led by Alicia. They encircled us, pulled our hair, and eventually tied
us up and carried us toward the elevator.
This is it, I thought. We're doomed.
