TO: SEASON I
TO: SEASON III
SEASON II:

. "HARD LANDING": He smiles at his contact in Bangkok. "Feelin O.K?" M.: "Fine."

. "SPEC OPS": The infamous "Get Over It" episode. No reason to smile here.

. "THIRD PERSON": No one smiles in this one.

. "APPROACHING ZERO": SWHE "Smells like you're cooking." "Just wanted to see how you were doing."

. "NEW REGIME": SS "Am I under orders to please you?" N: "He (Petrosian) can make it easier for us."

. "MANDATORY REFUSAL": IS when he takes head mike from Nikita and reports "material secure."

. "HALF LIFE": Although no "true" smiles in this one, (the elevator scene showed a brief look of cruel irony) we did get to almost see tears. Michael to Nikita in the end as she shoots Rene (because she thinks he is about to shoot Michael): "You should have let him do it." Emotionally Michael seemed to be where Nikita was last season.

. "DARKNESS VISIBLE": No smiles, but the look on Michael's face when he puts the kids out of the vehicle said: "God, this woman! If I don't go back and get those kids, I'll never hear the end of it."

. "OPEN HEART": Not a flicker or hint of a smile. (Lighten up a little people.)

. "FIRST MISSION": In Act 1, I "feel" that he's smiling with Viscano because she's giggling a lot, but we can't see this clearly even in profile. A little later he SWHI at Viscano as she departs on the first mission. (Had to pause tape for this one.) Although it can be argued that the next encounter with Viscano (when she asks him out) is the same, I just couldn't see it, though he was very pleasant with her.

. "PSYCHIC PILGRIM":In the prologue, we get a few , in bed, ILD smiles. I was so fooled by this scene. I thought one of them was dreaming. As it turns out, I was dreaming. In Act 1 even though it too is in the line of duty, we get a wide (but fleeting), BS with teeth and everything. The morning after they (Michael & Nikita) sleep together (under Madeline's orders) he smiles slightly as he tells Nikita that he didn't sleep well.

. "SOUL SACRIFICE": In the party scene with Nikita and Terry, Michael, cigarette in hand, smiles a SS a couple of times as he watches Nikita "work".

. "FUZZY LOGIC":There is very little of Michael in this episode. I detected no smiling. This is an episode for Birkoff watchers.

. "OLD HABIT": Walter is happy for about five minutes in this one. That is, up until he finds out Belinda has been sent out on a suicide mission. Michael and Nikita are "business as usual", lying to each other rather transparently.

. "INSIDE OUT": No smiles from Michael, however Operations gave Birkoff a fatherly "I'm-so- -proud-of-you" smile at the end. That was nice. And did you notice that Michael gave Birkoff a shot of the antidote before he gave one to Nikita. Hmmm?

. "NOT WAS":This was a fun episode for a "Smile Keeper," but it was atypical, so no ratings, no judgements. This person is no doubt what Michael may have been had Section not happened. 1. When Nikita tells him he's an antiterrorist, he chuckles in disbelief. 2. When Michael asks Nikita if he has any friends, she replies that she doesn't know after having known him for three years. They both smile when he observes that he sounds like a jerk. 3.Nikita tells him that she's actually very fond of him. He smiles and says, "I'm glad." 4. Later when Nikita visits him in the infirmary, he gives her a small, quick but sincere smile. Of course, by shows end, he's back to his old self.

. "DOUBLE DATE": Lots of SSmiles, BSmiles and SWHE, but once again they're in the line of duty. Michael is trying to save Nikita's life by seducing Lisa Fanning again. This time it doesn't work, or does it? This woman just won't learn.

. "OFF PROFILE": The first time Michael asks Andrea (Celine Bonnier-Roy's real life girlfriend -sorry fans) out, I detected a faint or SS and a SS again later when they're dancing as part of a mission. Nikita wastes 3 whole seconds watching them :-). He smiles at Andrea again in bed after they make love. But this time I believe it's an ILDS. Does anyone really believe he's over Nikita?

. "LAST NIGHT": I'd like to think that at the very end when Operations threatens *Michael , and when he (Michael) informs Operations that he has resources of his own; that there was no mission that required both his and Madeline's presence, he was jumping up and down with glee on the inside.

. "IN BETWEEN": Not to nit pick, but in the very first scene of Act 1 as the operatives are being briefed, Michael is smiling...if only with his eyes. Then later, twice when being interviewed by Abel Gellner as part of a mission, he exhibits rather BSmiles. They are all in the line of duty.

. "ADRIAN'S GARDEN": "Sexual harrassment thy name is Operations".

. "END GAME": Weep, weep. Sniffle, sniffle. There shouldn't be a dry eye left in the world after this one.
*Next season we just have to find out about Michael's private life. No one can live like this without getting an ulcer.
