Part 2(August
1999):
Mamiko runs to tell Mikarin who's at the
door, and she it's amazing that she can talk to him. Mikarin asks
why, and it turns out that Igarashi is famous for not liking girls.
When Mikarin goes, she finds Igarashi playing with Katsupei. Igarashi
asks Mikarin to come to his house, because her father is there demanding
the return of his 'precious daughter'.
When they get there,
her father indulgently tells her not to run off anymore, but Mikarin says
she's still angry about them trying to trick her into an arranged marriage.
At this, her father is puzzled-it turns out that Mikarin just assumed that
it was an omiai, and it was just a regular dinner after all!
So she explains to Mamiko,
who is a bit sad that Mikarin can go back home now. Mikarin notices,
and decides that she'll stay with Mamiko after all. Mamiko wonders
if Mikarin's parents will agree, and Mikarin says no problem, she had another
fight with her dad over something totally different and ran away again.
Mikarin tries to help
Mamiko out by making a late-night snack while Mamiko is working on her
manga, but she's no good at cooking and just burns herself. She decides
to stick with what she's best at to make Mamiko happy, so she performs
her 'talent'-making birds appear out of nowhere. She doesn't even
know herself how she does it, and says that ever since she was little,
she's been able to do it. Mamiko says she has a bit of a headache,
and her bird Tsururin lays a cool cloth on her forehead. Then the
bird *smirks* at Mikarin, who is horrified that a bird is superior to her.
She decides to help with Mamiko's manga, but takes one look and passes
out, though she can't really see much because of her self-censoring vision^_^
Mikarin recovers outside,
and meets Katsupei, who gives her a rice ball that he made. Mikarin
asks him to show her how to make them.
Inside, Mamiko is ecstatic
because she finished her manga. She looks around for Mikarin, but
can't find her, and gets worried that she went home. Right then,
Mikarin bounces in with her handmade rice balls, saying she wanted to have
them for dinner but they're not good enough. Mamiko is really happy,
and says Mikarin just being there is good enough, she had feared that seeing
the XXXXX do XXXXXX had made Mikarin dislike her. Mikarin denies
it totally, though she doesn't understand exactly what Mamiko is saying.
On Sep 1, Mamiko and
Mikarin go back to school. Mikarin spots Igarashi and says hello
cheerily, but he gives her a very unwelcoming look. When Mikarin
asks what that's all about, he says bad things happen when she's around.
Their classmates watch them and comment on how 'hot' they are together,
and another calls them an electric couple!
Parts 3-5(Sep-Nov
1999, I don't have these so I can't summarize them right now):
Igarashi has always helped Mikarin out,
and though she knows Mamiko likes him, she can't stop her own feelings.
He helps when people at school almost find out that Mamiko writes H manga,
and also saves Mikarin when it seems her parents will drag her home.
Now, the house where Mikarin and Mamiko live together has caught fire,
with Tsururin, Mamiko's helper bird, inside!
Part 6(December
1999):
Mamiko hopes that she can still get in through
the back door to save Tsururin, and tells Mikarin to stay put. Inside,
Tsururin tries to beat back the fire with his wings, but it's no good.
Then some glass is broken, and Mamiko appears to pull Tsururin out.
Suddenly a bookshelf collapses towards them in flames, but Mikarin, who
has come with a fire extinguisher, puts it out. Even so, before they
can all leave, they pass out from the fumes.
Mikarin thinks that when she ran
in, she was so frightened her knees were knocking together, but because
Mamiko and Tsururin were inside, she had to go in, because she didn't want
to lose her precious friends.
When she wakes up, her
father is crying out her name. She asks why he's there, and it turns
out she and Mamiko were saved from the fire. Mamiko is beside her,
and is fine except for a broken leg. But her parents say it's too
dangerous for her to stay with Mamiko anymore, so they're taking her home.
Mikarin puts up a good fight but loses. Mamiko is offered lots of
money for her friendship, and when she says she can't accept it, she's
told that the next week, Mikarin's family is going to move overseas, so
she probably won't see Mikarin ever again!
After they leave, Mamiko
leans out the window, not surprised at all that Igarashi is there, and
tells him he has to save Mikarin like he always does. Igarashi pauses,
and then agrees, asking why he likes such a crazy girl as Mikarin, and
Mamiko smiles, saying they've both gotten caught by Mikarin's charm.
At a facny restaurant,
Mikarin is arguing with her parents about her new arranged marriage, but
they say they're only thinking of her. They married against the parent's
wishes and now they always have to have protection from ill-wishers(??I
didn't know that, but whatever). Mikarin agrees that she doesn't
want that way of life, but thinks that she misses Mamiko, and she also
thinks of Igarashi...she stands up and shouts for Igarashi to come and
save her, repeating his name several times and drawing a lot of attention.
She finally breaks down and starts to cry, but stops as she hears the sound
of a motorcycle. Suddenly, Igarashi Sr.(Igarashi's dad, who happens
to be the editor of Do-Hard, Mamiko's H manga firm I think), bursts through
the wall, asking slyly if Mikarin was calling for him. Mikarin, frustrated,
tries to tell him she was calling a different Igarashi, when she is picked
up by Igarashi, who has slipped in unnoticed. Mikarin's parents recognize
him, and he says he's going to take Mikarin, because if he lets her go
now, he'll always regret it. So he runs off with Mikarin, leaving
his dad to hold back the pursuers.
Mikarin and Igarashi
escape on his bike, and everything's happy. Two months later at Christmas,
Mamiko has the happy thought(??) that if she married Igarashi's dad, they
would all become one happy family...^_^
