Part
1 (January 2000): God,
was there ever a girl so unhappy as me...?
This is Arisa's thought as the
tough girls(led by Matsuda) at her high school pick on her at lunch, scaring
her into going to the convenience store and buying them dessert.
The other students look on and comment,
and one boy is silent. Arisa recalls that she's been picked on for
years. Her parents move around Japan often because of their work,
and wherever she goes, she always ends up the target for bullies.
On her way from the store, Arisa tells herself to fight, that no matter
how hard it is, if she keeps trying, one day her prince will appear, and-
suddenly, a voice shouts out "MOVE!" and a bicycle wheel runs into her.
The owner of the bike, a handsome, dark-haired boy tells her not to stand
in the middle of the school entrance, and calls her 'dara'. He then
tells his pet dog, Totomaru, not to eat the dessert as it's bad for him.
Arisa is dismayed that what she bought is gone, but when the boy tries
to apologize, she is so timid she says it's no problem and even apologizes
herself! The boy finally really looks at her, and starts to ask if
she...but when he sees how scared she is, he lets it go and leaves.
Arisa wonders about him for a moment, thinking he couldn't be a student
at her school. She realizes that she's late for afternoon class,
and when she gets back is told by the teacher to stay after for yard cleaning.
As she is
doing this, she again reflects on how unhappy she is, and wonders when
her prince is going to appear. A voice interrupts her, and Inogami
Yuuki, a blond-haired boy, says her job looks hard, and he'll help her.
Arisa observes that he's the only one in class that's nice to her, and
though he has a pretty face, he's very popular with girls. She wonders
why he bothers with her. He asks if she's alright with the bullying,
and wonders if he should tell the teacher, but Arisa says she's used to
it, and it's her own fault for not saying anything. Inogami agrees,
but asks her if she isn't really stronger than that?...A blackboard eraser
falls on Arisa, sent from Matsuda, and stops her from thinking about that
one very long.
After school,
Arisa is at home with her older brother, Iyo(who is also very cute^_^),
and he asks what happened to her clothes, but she avoids the question and
goes into the bath. They live alone since their parents are so busy.
There, she considered that though she had dreaded graduating from this
high school, maybe it won't be so bad with Inogami there. After her
bath, Arisa asks her brother if 'dara' means idiot, and where it's from,
and Iyo says he thinks it's from Shimane, where they lived about 5 years
ago. Arisa says for some reason she can't really remember that, and
it confirms Iyo's belief that she doesn't have any memory from then, and
thinks back to that time, when, in contrast to now, Arisa was a huge bully,
keeping her classmates under her control, until one day, her brother accidentally
knocked her down some stairs, whereupon she hit her head, lost her memory,
and flipped her personality, becoming a crybaby. Iyo silently apologizes
to Arisa, giving her dinner and suggesting that she go to bed and forget
all the bad things.
The next day,
a transfer student from Shimane comes to Arisa's class, and it's the boy
from the day before, Yashiro Akina! Arisa is apprehensive when the
teacher suggests he sit next to Arisa, calling her by her full name, but
is totally alarmed when he grabs her, saying as he thought, she IS that
Arisa! He tells her not to play dumb, and says because of her...Inogami
steps in, brushing Akina's hand from Arisa and saying she is frightened.
Arisa is impressed and thankful, but when the teacher tells them all to
sit down and for Arisa to share her textbooks with Akina, she's scared
again, and wonders who in the world he is.
At the
end of the period, Inogami gives Akina textbooks, saying he borrowed them
from a friend, and now, Arisa doesn't have to share hers. Akina thanks
him, but asks why, and Inogami says they're from the same town?!
Arisa finds
Inogami in the hall and tries to thank him, but he says when she's hassled
by not only Matsuda,
but the transfer student, it's too much, and tells her if she ever needs
his help to ask. Arisa is ecstatic, and wonders if he is her saviour
prince, but Matsuda rudely stopd her musing, telling her not to get cocky.
They say she shouldn't get so much attention, and a big henchgirl says
it's irritating.
Back at the
classroom, Iyo arrives, saying Arisa forgot something. Akina notices
and listens to the class girls explain that Arisa went to the roof with
Matsuda and her friends.
On the roof,
Matsuda tells Arisa how annoying she is, always waiting for someone to
help her, and states that Inogami just feels pity for her. Iyo is
on his way, feeling trouble, but Akina passes him and arrives in time to
see Matsuda push Arisa. Arisa thinks that she doesn't like being
helpless either, and, falling toward the stairwell, supposes that a prince
never arrives, and God never really helps her...she has noone to help her
but herself! Something clicks, and she does an acrobatic leap, landing
safely. Matsuda is puzzled at this, but Akina feels foreboding.
Standing up, Arisa takes out her ponytails and murmurs that when
one is meek, people take total advantage. She declares that she will
teach them what happens when she is angered. Iyo asks if she's alright,
but a now defiant Arisa announces that she isn't the crybaby Arisa,
who is at present sleeping inside her, but the other, appearing for the
first time in years. Matsuda says she's tired of this garbage, and
orders her large thug girl to take Arisa out, but Arisa easily
throws her, laughing at how futile it is. Matsuda decides to escape,
but Arisa catches her, commenting that the other Arisa doesn't seem
to realize her existence, but she's been watching events from her eyes
the whole time, seeing Matsuda's treatment of her.
In the yard,
students exclaim that someone seems to have bungee jumped off the roof,
Arisa
having suspended Matsuda from there. Arisa lists several desserts,
and orders Matsuda's henchgirls to fetch them within 2 minutes or Matsuda's
rope will be cut. Iyo protests but Arisa commands him to be
quiet. Akina demands her recognition now, saying she can't pretend
not to recognize him now that she's shown her true self. Arisa coyly
agrees, calling him her underling #764, Crybaby Akina-chan. He flushes
with anger, and tells her to shut up when she reminds him of the time she
chased him with a worm and led him to fall into a trap. He says he's
not like that anymore, and when she recalls another time when a rabbit
made him cry he tells her to stop bringing up ancient history. Iyo
weakly tries to stop their squabbling when Akina's dog Totomaru appears
and heads for Arisa. She stops and shoos him away, but he
jumps at her and she falls. When she opens her eyes, the meek Arisa
has appeared again. She doesn't realize what happened, but Akina
doesn't buy it, continuing that he's looked for her all these years, transferring
from school to school, until the day before, when he received a letter
telling him of Arisa's whereabouts. He remarks that he doesn't know
and doesn't care who sent it or why, only that he came for revenge.
Behind them, the roof door opens and a shadowy person(looks like Inogami)
declares with satisfaction that he has finally encountered Arisa. |
