General Information
The Acting Company consists of: 10 Resident Actors ; 5 Performance Apprentices (high school age); Non-Resident Equity Actors (three AEA actors per main stage show); and a small number of local Non-Equity Actors . EMC points are available for work done for the main stage. Resident Actors and Performance Apprentices work in other areas of the theatre--staffing shops, working as running crew, and helping the administration as needed while not in rehearsal or performance. Resident Actors and Performance Apprentices receive a private room and participate in the meal plan. Resident Actors perform on both the main stage theatre with the AEA actors and in the Theatre for Young Audiences. Performance Apprentices appear only in the Theatre for Young Audiences. Summer Theatre attends various AEA and non-professional auditions (e.g. NETC Boston, MA: March 21-23). Additional auditions will be held in South Hadley, MA, on Saturday April 4 and Sunday April 5, 1998. Resident Actors must audition in person.

Meal Plan
The Meal Plan offers participants food coupons worth $50 each week, which can then be exchanged for breakfast and lunch, Monday--Friday, at the College Student Union. Again, all resident actors and interns receive these coupons free for each week in residence. Staff and non-performance members of the Resident Company may elect to participate in the meal plan by paying $25 a week for $50 worth of coupons. The Student Union cafeteria is inexpensive and offer vegetarian selections in addition to a wide variety of deli/cafeteria-style food. There are many restaurants within walking distance for dinners and weekend meals. There is no cooking allowed in the rooms or residence hall. AEA actors receive a weekly "per diem" negotiated with Actors' Equity Association.
Staff
If you have sent us a resume for a non-acting job, you need not do anything more unless you wish to write and clarify your application. In other words, if you wish to change or add to the job area previously requested, just write a letter explaining where we should make the adjustment. Otherwise, your first letter and resume will be kept on file in the department for which you originally applied.
Actors
Resident Acting Company applicants must fill out an application form at auditions. Actors who may want to work for the Company in an administrative or technical area "if not cast" should send in an application before auditioning. Actors planning to attend NETC auditions should send us your headshot/resume and let us know your audition time. Also, auditions will be held (by appointment) in South Hadley, MA, on Saturday April 4 and Sunday April 5. No New York auditions have been scheduled. Resident actors must audition in person to be cast.
Send us a picture, resume and cover letter. We are expecting to fill administrative, design, and technical positions through March and April. By mid-April, we will have cast the season and those who want to be with us "if not cast" will have the opportunity to apply for those positions still open. By late April, a few people will arrive for work. By mid-May, a steady stream will be arriving. This general information is designed to give you an overview of the Summer Theatre operation.
