A Fleeting Dream by Newt

love
like a precious diamond
an immaculate white dove
scathed by a slight mistake
an error so tiny
how I could possibly make
something so captivating and rare
into this,
a monster with golden hair
If affections do somehow smother thee
all I can do is to leave you be
and see my dream for us die
like so many summers'
flowers gone dry
What a drought this must be
to see my future wither before me
And watch my love take wing

It was only a fleeting dream.
