When I was young I went to God's house I sat there listening as quiet as a mouse I heard that there was a God who cared and to me the gospel was shared I accepted Jesus into my heart and with my evil ways I did part to my friends I shared the news and my loved ones filed into the pews as I was baptized in God's name I was wiped from the awful blame then as I came home one day I somehow got into a sports car?s way I entered Heaven and saw God's face I passed on having God's wonderful grace now I walk beside the crystal sea by the jeweled gate my feet carry me the streets of gold my eyes take in I am glad that Jesus carried my sin upon His shoulders to Calvery you'd never guess what he's given me MY SKIN MELTS AWAY BIT BY BIT AS I SCREAM AND CRY IN THE FIERY PIT MY FEET ARE BONE THEY HAVE NO SKIN THIS IS THE PRICE FOR MY UNFORGIVEN SIN I HAD DECIDED I NEEDED NO GOD SO IN PAIN AND SORROW I NOW TROD MY HAIR THAT I HAD BRUSHED EACH DAY IN VAIN HAS BURNED AND SIZZLED IN THE ACID RAIN I AM DYING BUT AM VERY MUCH AWARE OF BURNING FOREVER AS I STILL STARE MY SKIN FALLS OFF AS IT BURNS FOR A COOL GLASS OF WATER I YEARN IF I HAD ONLY LISTENED TO THEM THEN I WOULd BE IN PARADISE WITH HIM Which of these would you rather be? confined and tortured, or forgiven and free? God's mercy is what you need to come to know and Heaven is where you will go. When you are singing a sad song, just remember that eternity is long. It lasts forever and then more and THAT my friends, is what we live for. | |||||||||||||||||
