About Me:
Lady Tempest's Profile

(If anyone cares to know...)

(Note~ inspired by my pal, J. Marie's profile list. I suck at these things, which is why it's taken so long to bother putting one up.)

  • Names known by:Lady Tempest, Nee, Neemeister
  • Gender:Female
  • Age: ancient at 32
  • Birthday:May 8, 1969 ( a very good year <evil grin>)
  • Zodiac sign: Taurus (Although I don't believe in that stuff, it does rather suit me. Let's just say 'Stubborn' is my middle name. <smirk>) Also explains why I chose the Taurus Key, hmmm.)
  • MBTI Personality Classification:IXTJ. Last I took the test several years ago, I was an even split between N(intuitive) and S(sensing). Probably alot more N now since I've given into my 'artsy' side. Still makes me a freak: too scientific to be a 'proper' artist, too 'artsy' to be a scientist. <sigh>
  • Favorite Color: Blue!

  •
  • Hobbies/Interests:Anime, reading, writing, playing computer/console games, listening to music (usually when I'm drawing or working on the webpage, too distracting otherwise).
  • Major/Career Aspirations:I'm an Art major, was a Computer Science major (until I realized I spent more time drawing than programming and I couldn't do both). I would like to be a character designer at a game company, like Amano or Tetsuya Nomura (both Final Fantasy character designers), or just general character art (like for computer RPG's. Damn, do some of those games need help!). If I could become a pulished novelist, with the cover art my own work as well, I wouldn't mind either. Actually, the ultimate living would be all 3: writing novels, drawing the cover/promotional art, and game character-design.
  • Favorite Music: J-Pop/J-Rock (Buck Tick, Takehito Koyasu <melt>, X-Japan...), Tool, Stabbing Westward, Queen, Duran Duran, Orgy, Depeche Mode... (mostly I listen to J-Pop/J-Rock MP3's set on repeat for hours on end when I'm drawing ( I get a tad absorbed in my work <grin>)
  • Current Favorite Song: 'Gessekai' by Buck Tick, 'In the End' by Linkin Park (the band that pisses me off because I like a few of their songs ALOT, even though I loathe Rap! Bastards!!! )  and 'Behind Blue Eyes' (aka Seifer's song) by The Who
  • Favorite Author/Book(s): 'Nightrunner Series' by Lynn Flewelling, 'Lankmar Series' by Fritz Leiber
  • Favorite Movie: (can't think of one at the moment, but I like Jackie Chan movies, Star Wars, uh...'Gattaca' was damn good... blah, too many movies and too much anime (not that one can ever watch 'too much' anime <grin>)
  • Favorite TV show:No contest, Stargate SG-1 (oh, yeah!!!)
  • Favorite Anime (Series): 'The Slayers' !!! ...any season, but 'Try' is probably the best. 'Rouruni Kenshin' is probably my next fave, except for suffering through Kaoru (UGH!) and Masao ( I will have a rant on this subject...grrrr), Fushigi Yuugi would be high on my list but for the unnecessary draaaaaagging of the series as a whole (Ok, true, DBZ is master of dragging out an episode, but at least there's no "Tamahome", "Miaka" when it does it, ARGH!!!!) and for too much Miaka crap, especially at the expense of more focus/character development of other characters and not enough Nakago screen(drool) time, Dammit!!
  • Favorite Anime (Movie): Bastard!! or Ninja Scroll (depends on mood) and I adore Tokyo Revelation (Ah, Akito). Oh, and 'Song of the Wind and the Trees'... very pretty and tragic. Has me crying each time I watch it.
  • Favorite Mangaka: You Higuri, although Azumi Moka and Modoru Motoni are close. For art alone it would be Azumi Moka, whose style resonates most with my own.
  • Favorite Manga : Romance by Azumi Moka (absolutely gorgeous!) and Gorgeous Carat by You Higuri
  • Favorite Manga (in English): Blade of the Immortal
  • Favorite Comic Book: Huh??! What's a comic book? Oh! Those things I used to read with the usually horrible art. (Yes, I have become a manga-snob. Once you've seen the good stuff, you can never go back. It's like watching Disney after being exposed to anime.)
  • Favorite Video-game:Xenogears and Vagrant Story (both for some of the best storylines I've seen in a console game). Shadows of Destiny had a pretty cool story too.
  • Favorite Computer game: The Sims !!!! (Any game that allows me to have Seifer and Squall live together in romantic bliss is a definite top on my list <evil grin>.)
  • Favorite Video-Game character:Yep, Seifer Almasy. Seifer was my entire motivation for finishing FF8, enduring the horror that is <shudder>Rinoa and that <shudder>travesty of a <shudder>'love story'. I just had to know what happened to him, and was looking forward to developments with his character. Boy, was I disappointed!!!! <pout>
  • Least Favorite Video-game character:Rinoa Heartilly (FF8): Manipulative, pushy, immature, weak, annoying, obssessive(stalker potential, if not already one), clueless, useless, brainless, self-absorbed (and undeserving of the indulgence), 'princess'-complex, spoiled, and has no f**king clue what real tragedy/hardship is... 'boo hoo, Daddy's a meanie'... at least she has one!! I sooooooooooooooo wished FF8 would have allowed for not only Squall to be continually rude to her her, but ignore her completely. Hell, it would have been nice to not have to save her ass. Unfortunately, no matter how much wandering around you do when you're supposed to save her, like when she's dangling off Garden( and it looked so promising too, when Squall shows no intention of rescuing her. Irvine's an ass!), it doesn't help. It's inevitable <grumble>...
  • Favorite Anime character: Zelgadis (The Slayers). A close second are: Nakago (Fushigi Yuugi), Zechs Merquise (Gundam Wing), and Dark Schneider (Bastard!!) (as much time as he spends naked, he had to make the top of the list <evil grin>) Note: except for DS, all are angst-'posterboys'. Hmmm...
  • Favorite Manga character: Kall-su (Bastard!!) (he's not in the anime enough to have made fave there and Woah! is he ansgty!!)
  • Least Favorite Anime character: Relena Peacecraft (GW) (I think she and Rinoa went to the same finishing-School for 'Pathetic, Obssessive, Dippy, Princess-complexed Female Leads'; at least Relena's a real princess, unlike some spoiled wannabe. Her abuse/apathy towards her brother alone is enough to put her on my hate list.) and Kaoru (Kenshin)(If it weren't for the fact that all the male characters are sooooo damn cool and badass, she would be annoying enough to ruin the series for me. Ugh!!)

  •
  • Favorite Yaoi couple: Seifer and Squall, of course! Zadei/Teteiyusu (Seimaden), Zechs/Treize (GW), Ashley/Sydney (Vagrant Story), Narsus/Daryoon (Arislan) are secondary favorites.
  • Favorite Slash couple/series: I don't get into slash much, guess I don't watch enough tv and it's not as aesthetic as yaoi, (and other reasons) but I do really really really like: Jack/Daniel (SG-1) and Napoleon/Illya (Man from Uncle). Alot!!
  • Favorite Yaoi/Slash theme:ANGST!!, First-Time, and Hurt/Comfort... if a story has all 3, I'm a very, very happy-camper.
  • Favorite Yaoi writer/artist:Not going to go there... don't want anyone feeling left out. I will give credit, though, to: Ladyglen for pulling me into the addiction that is yaoi and fanfiction with her Arislan fic, 'A Simple Kiss'; Scarlet Fever, for inspiring me to write Seifer/Squall fanfic myself, with 'Somewhat Damaged' (it showed me that what Seifer/Squall fics should/could be did exist and could be good); J. Marie, for the added spark of inspiration with the 'Meant for Each Other' Series and for, along with Scarlet Fever, being a refreshing oasis in the bastardization desert that was Seifer/Squall fanfiction almost two years ago. Characterizaion matters. Also, P.L Nunn and Thera for inspiring me to write my own original yaoi stories by crafting such wonderful original stories. There's many others who I enjoy reading, but I'm just mentioning the ones who are in some way responsible for this site, or some of the works contained, even existing.
  • Major Yaoi/Fanfic Pet Peeves: OOC, OOC, OCC! Characterization, or rather mischaracterization, is my biggest peeve. True, everyone sees characters differently. But there's a big difference in perception-differences and not caring enough to even try to portray a character even remotely as they are in the series/game.Another peeve, an off-shoot of the characterization one,  is the idea of pairing characters together 'just because': just because they're pretty together, just because it hasn't been done (even more of a pet-peeve). Chemistry and feasibility should matter, and I have seen many fics use them to tranform a 'just because' into a believable couple and a good fic. Most Seifer/Laguna fics I've seen are good examples. However, too often that's not the case at all in 'just because' fanfics, and characterization and character-dynamics are ignored. The irony is the frequent rationale behind why a canon-hetero pairing doesn't 'work' is lack of chemistry and believablity, yet too often the same violation is made in pairing two male characters, 'just because'. <sigh>
  • Why Yaoi?:I'd like to write an essay that delves further into why, but for here, it's basically two main factors: the guys and the girls. I like guys. Alot. The idea of a character I like falling in love with another character I like appeals to the romantic in me. And since the flip-side of why is 'the girls', and the fact that I detest most female characters, 99.9% of the time the characters I like are male... and gorgeous. Sooooo, a male loving another male becomes the most appealing choice. Simple. Besides, often the best/most chemistry between characters in anime (sometimes live-action shows as well. Case, in point: Stargate SG-1) is between male characters. How can anything be more romantic than love so deep for 'who' a person is, that 'what' they are isn't  important.enough to stand in the way. ('What' is important to 'who' since the 'what' colors the 'who' we become through personal and societal influences and experiences. But I digress... and should save this for an essay <grin>)
