My name is Fergal Andrews. I am a musician and sound engineer. I live on the coast, north of Dublin city in Ireland. "Io" (eye-oh) is the name I use for my music. I began my musical career in 1985, playing bass with a rock band called "Cactus World News" which I left in 1988. Since then, while playing with several bands and working as a recording engineer, I have developed a passion for electronic music. A couple of years ago I started writing music for theatre, which led to a growing love for music of a more classical nature. It is from the marriage of these two relative extremes that Io was born. Falling into the category of Electro-Acoustic, the music itself is also a mixture of extremes, moving from warm and inviting to cold and disturbing. You can hear some Io music by going to the Music page and downloading the files. Io is one of the moons of Jupiter and for some reason is a place that has always captured my imagination. It takes all sorts I suppose! |
