Anna Ely - Collage
"Tranquility"
Using watercolor paper, I prepared the surface by covering
with a random watercolor
wash in several colors, adding splattering, etc. and let dry. I then stamped
the carved leaf,
stick, and fern images using Archival Inkpads from Ranger, in sepia and
library green.
Then I tore the image out in a haphazard manner, and set aside. The little
carved pot was
stamped on a separate piece of white card stock using colbalt blue. Most
of the leaves,
and branches were carved too. I cut out the pot and cut a slit in the top
and inserted
small pieces of grass, and mounted it to the watercolor paper below the
stamped plants.
I used foam tape to raise it above the surface. Tearing a small piece of
cork, I rubbed it
with sepia ink and slipped it under the pot and mounted with framer's tape.
I then
drew the finishing touches of additional plants using Tulips Paper Paints,
and let dry.
I only used a little Tulip Paper Paint to drop in some details. The whole
completed
collage then was mounted to a decorative handmade paper which was then mounted
on mat board.
This is one of the collages that I created for my monthly swap group.
