(Scuba took the pics, btw) and unbelievable pictures they are. I decided to leave the .jpgs at full since they look so good - so it may take awhile to load.

<< The first is me talking to my older son before driving the car to the pre-race grid. The second is me in the middle of the NASCAR front straight at about 120 -- about to get off the gas, brake hard and downshift for the wide 90 -degree left turn into the infield road course (Turn 1). After another, tighter 90-degree left (Turn 2), there's a brief downhill straight into Turn 3A 90 degrees to the right. Only a bit of a lift off the throttle to help the car turn in and carry speed into the braking area for 90-degree Turn 3B that connects to the infield straight -- where exit speed is crucial to take advantage of the straight. Pictures 3, 4, 5 and 6 show me leading a VW GTI and an Alfa Spider into and through Turn 3A. Both of these cars are in the class above mine but finished behind me. Picture 7 is me getting pushed off the scales at the post-race impound. Until my win at the first race at the new road course in South Carolina in mid-July, my second in the race at the end of June in Charlotte was my best finish. Since beginning in 1994, I've registered for 16 races -- 9 at Charlotte, 2 at Road Atlanta, 2 at Rockingham and 1 at Carolina Motorsports Park in South Carolina. I've had 2 dnf's (did not finish) while running third -- one in an endurance race at Road Atlanta in '95 -- and one dns (did not start) in the next race after the dnf at Road Atlanta. One dnf was in Charlotte in June, '99 after I qualified for my first pole. I won 1 (South Carolina in July, '99), was second once (Charlotte in June, '99), third 4 times (twice at Charlotte in June, '98, once in Charlotte in June, '96 and once at Charlotte in an endurance race in '94), fifth twice in '95 in Charlotte, sixth twice at Rockingham in '97 (the only year I raced there and the last year they had a road course), seventh once in Charlotte in '94 and tenth twice (Charlotte in '94 and Charlotte in '96). The last 5 races from most recent were 1, dnf (pole), 2, 3 and 3 -- so the trend is up. >>
He seems pleased.
