BUTTON NECKLACE #2

xerox copy of necklace

Supplies Needed:    120 buttons, small & identical size, 4-holes
                                         Large eyed needle
Crochet cotton thread or strong thread
                                         Scissors

Crochet Instructions:      Located at the bottom of this page

Thread the needle with about 40" of the thread. Make a large knot at the end.

Insert the needle through the back of a button, then down through the front of the button.

Insert the needle through the back of the next button, then up through the front of the button. Pull the second button up close to the first button so that their holes overlap.

Repeat these two steps until all the buttons are used or until it is the desired length and still long enough to slip over your head.

Imagine that each button has 2 bottom holes and 2 top holes. Be careful to line up the buttons tops or bottoms together so that they will not twist. Once you do a few, you will understand this confusing tip.

Tie the thread onto the first knot, being careful not to twist the button strand. Cut off the thread tail.

Re-thread the needle, make a large knot and insert the needle in the back of the button that was first on the strand, the same button you started with before.

Work the thread through the unused 2 holes in each button in the same manner as before. When all the buttons are sewn, tie the thread end to the first knot and cut the tail off. Add a dot of glue to secure the knots.
