started off like any other day... I got up exercised, ate breakfast, and
studied. I was in the middle of my Klingon language class, when D'ANA
called out a "red alert"!!! Beep... beep... beep... beep... the siren
kept screaming, and the red alert light kept flashing over and over...
"D'ANA what is going on!!!". The siren toned down and all screens
left the beautiful Viridian landscapes, up popped screens of star charts,
plotted courses, mathematics equations, plus... the main screen displayed
a gigantic starship like I could never have imagined! The nose
of the craft was shaped like an alien skull that had big teeth like those
of the "Andramidan Saber Tooth Lion", it was attached to a kilometer long
neck. The neck tied into the base of the first of four rotating artificial
gravity pods, D'ANA stated that by the rotation speed that the aliens came
from a planet with a very heavy gravity rating. That seemed to make
perfect sense to me. "But how are we able to see the starship so
clearly?" D'ANA replied that is very simple we are being followed.
"Followed!!! What do you mean being followed?". Zen
do you remember your classes on star drives? "'Yes".
Well then you should realize that ever since we have
been in warp drive that we have been leaving an anti-matter residue trail
behind us, the alien vessel happened to come across that trail before it
dissipated. Turned on a course that followed us and have been pursuing
us for a matter of weeks. Unfortunately, I didn't know that we were
being followed until they scanned us! One thing we are very fortunate
of is they are already at maximum speed, and even though they are faster
it will take them another five weeks to catch up with us... time is on
our side but speed is on theirs. If we slow down any that will just
give them that much more of an advantage. "So what do we do
now?" We wait...
"Wait for what" For them to
drop their scanners long enough for us to change course. You see,
the scanners are shooting a long distance and have to be pin-point focused.
So while they keep a constant scan, they can tell if we change course and
what direction we headed. But... if they drop the scan long enough
we can change course and take evasive actions. It will take them
awhile to get close enough to the trail where we veared off, I approximate
that duration to be 8.52 days if they drop the scan within the next 12
hours. "If we can't do anything until then, what do we do
in the meantime?" Study...
