Tom Clancy,
today's master of techno-war books, has come out with a new effort, filled
with the usual bells and whistles. Mr. Clark, known to longtime Clancy
readers from "Clear and Present Danger" and "Without Remorse", is back
with a bunch of cohorts to help him combat evil.
Clark, now in
his fifties, forms and manages an elite, multi-national anti-terrorist
force known as Rainbow Six(hence the name). Over the course of the
book, they have to deal with several, unrelated incidents(or are they?).
As for the writing,
I have read all of Clancy's fiction works, and unfortunately, he's
beginning to seem a little formulatic. I could see the ending coming
about halfway into the book. This book is not Clancy on the top of
his form(see "Debt of Honor", "Cardinal of the Kremlin", or "Red Storm Rising" if you want that).
The book almost seems like filler to give his fans something to read between
actual novels.
