St. James C.M.E. is a Liturgical Church rich in history, located in the heart of the community. We have a number of ministries that are in full swing as well as future ministries that we hope to start soon. St. James C.M.E. is one of the oldest Christian Methodist Episcopal Churches in the country. St. James C.M.E. is located in the heart of Tallahassee, Florida. The present congregation meets in the building located at 1037 Richmond Street, and has been there since 1984. The Old St. James Building is a historic landmark, being that it is one of the oldest church building in the country.
St. James C.M.E. is recognized as one of the 141 significant sites in the history of African Americans is Florida, as noted by the Florida Black Heritage Trail
