Willem I acclaims the title of King William I of The Netherlands. So this can count as the chart for the monarchy, we are still a monarchy.

This horoscope symbolizes the start of the Monarchy, when William I, after being exiled to England, was brought back by a group of fans of the Orange-family (most likely freemasons) and then accepted the title of King, at the time of the Netherlands and Belgium together. A beautiful symbolic plate survived announcing this happening that depicts the essentials of the chart of the Netherlands. A cow is situated in the middle, symbolic of Holland's agricultural emphasis at the time (Moon in Taurus, square the MC). A ship is on the picture also, symbolizing the seafaring part of the nation (Sun in Pisces) and a third eye symbol is on top: a richness of symbolism that is hard to find these days.
1. This chart of the Netherlands sees Cancer rising, with its ruler Moon in Taurus in the 11th house. Not only is the Moon the most important feature of a chart for a country (compare the Moon in Aquarius in the chart of the USA!!), but it also symbolizes - in combination with our 'quaint and charming Cancerian canals in Amsterdam and little houses" : the nurturing, warm and sometimes -hm - oppressive social qualities of the Netherlands: taking care of the group as a whole. The social system in Holland is one of the most protective ones around. 2. The Moon in Taurus tells us something about the basic attitude of a country, automatically, instinctually (as in a chart of a person), and here it is geared towards practical matters, towards materialism, and towards the distribution of goods amongst the people (11th house). The 'no-nonsense' attitude of the Dutch is also beautifully described by this: by nature we don't believe anything until we see it materialized.... 3. We find the Sun in the mysterious sign of Pisces on the other hand, but viewed against the background of the Moon in Taurus, this sooner depicts what Holland is known for throughout the world (10th house = reputation) : the way we deal with the Water, the control of the seas, the Delta-works. At that time of this chart Holland was a powerful seafaring nation (Sun conjunct Pluto = powerful, conjunct Mercury = trade). We are a people of commercial (Pisces) traders (Mercury) for sure... True, today we are compared to other countries also a walhalla of things spiritual and new age: all the information of the world is easily accessible here, and we are forerunners in the communication age, joining up maybe with America, as our MC conjuncts the Moon of the United States...
4. Jupiter (ruler of the 6th - I use KOCH houses by the way, no idea what Placidus does) squares the Ascendant and may tell something about the Cancerian nurturing attitude we have towards people from abroad who come to work in the Netherlands and our tolerance and freedom towards work in general. But speaking of international things: Saturn is in the 9th house in Aquarius: and this depicts our 'shadow' for sure: the need for control, and always 'knowing things better', and have opinions with an authoritative attitude towards all things international... When we had a Saturn-return just recently, "Maastricht" had been happening and the Dutch were at the authoritative side of things with regard to making "Europe" happen (9th house). Internationally speaking, the Dutch leaders haven't had a very easy time with Saturn crossing the 10th house, and reputations went downhill one after the other:-)
EXACTLY at the time Uranus transitted the MC (when it was in Aquarius BEFORE), KLM was founded: the Dutch aviation industry and airlines started to make a major impact here in Holland. It may be interesting to note its Uranus-return in a few years: Schiphol has major plans of extension once again, maybe even thinking of a second airport off the coast.
When Neptune crossed the Descendant, Dutch shipping industry went downhill fast (Capricorn is about 'sizing down' too), to only climb out of it again some ten years later, i.e. now, just when Neptune is about to leave Capricorn.
